Coil ...and the ambulance died in his arms
"...and the ambulance died in his arms" is a document of Coil's performance at the All Tomorrow's Parties event curated by Autechre at Camber Sands, UK on April 6th 2003. The highly anticipated Coil live set professionally recorded and captured here is remarkable – not only because of the songs featured, three of which are completely new and exclusive to this set – but also because of the sheer intensity of the performance itself. These unreleased tracks perfectly compliment the perennial fan favourite The Dreamer is Stll Asleep, which receives its only beautifully extended live-airing at the end of the set. The cuts premiered here are shining examples of the subtly magickal songwriting of Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark era and Balance, appearing in a 19th century hand-made dress provided by his then partner, the artist Ian Johnstone, is on top creative form in his eerily foreboding lyrical improvisation throughout.
